Rideshare EV earnings: the basics
We won't promise you a dollar figure. Anyone who does is guessing. What we can give you is a simple way to work out your own numbers.
The worksheet
For a week (or a shift), write down:
- Fares you earned (from your driver app)
- minus platform fees and commissions
- minus car cost: km driven × your cost per km. On our standard 9,000 km pack that's about 22c/km (A$1,990 ÷ 9,000).
- minus charging: kWh used × the price you paid. Our fleet's SEQ Supercharger median was A$0.48/kWh (Sep–Oct 2026), and home off-peak is usually cheaper.
- minus tolls and parking
- minus GST and income tax set aside = what you actually keep

Charging cost per km, the easy way
Charging cost per km ≈ (Wh/km ÷ 1,000) × price per kWh. Our standard Model Ys averaged 152–186 Wh/km in real-world driving.

GST and tax
The ATO treats ride-sourcing drivers differently from most small businesses. In general you need an ABN and must register for GST from your first fare, whatever your turnover. Check the ATO's ride-sourcing guidance and talk to your accountant.
Why prepaid km suits rideshare
Your km only get used when you drive. A slow week costs less, and holidays don't cost rent. Prepaid km never expire as long as you top up at least once every 8 weeks.

Track it weekly
A simple spreadsheet with those six lines beats guessing. Do it for a month and you'll know your real numbers.

Daily hire on Turo · separate service
Just need it for a weekend? Try a Porsche on Turo. Our Porsche Taycan 4S and Porsche Macan 4 Electric are available for short daily hire. It's a separate daily-hire service, booked on Turo (Turo's prices, insurance and terms apply), and isn't part of our prepaid km plans.
